Shillong, Aug 17: Phase II of the district recruitment drive conducted by the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society began today at Kiang Nangbah Government College in West Jaintia Hills, drawing hundreds of job-seeking youth from across the district.
Officials said the two-day camp aims to guide eligible candidates through the enrollment process and provide counselling on available opportunities. Aspirants queued up for registration and information on various recruitment categories.
District authorities said similar camps will be held at multiple locations in the coming days to ensure wider participation. The next camp is scheduled at Iooksi (Kyanmynsar) on August 19.
Meanwhile, hundreds of job seekers turned up at the Purakhasia MFC Hall in South West Garo Hills, despite heavy rainfall.
Organisers said placement opportunities for more than 10,000 domestic and international jobs are available through the drive. Candidates interacted with prospective employers, learned about job openings, and took steps toward securing employment.
Officials noted the strong turnout reflected youth determination to pursue jobs and build sustainable careers. They added that the initiative highlights the role of skill development and employment linkages in empowering young people and connecting them to opportunities within the country and abroad.
The MSSDS drive is part of ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers in Meghalaya and support aspirations among youth to acquire skills and contribute to the workforce.
