Shillong, Aug 16: An ICSSR-sponsored national conclave on ‘Sectoral Analysis and Growth Potential of Agricultural and Other Rural Sectors Post GST’ was recently organised at Ri-Bhoi College in collaboration with the Department of Rural Development of University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM).
The conclave brought together academics, researchers, experts and students from institutions across the country to discuss the changing landscape of agriculture, rural development and the wider rural economy in the post-GST era.
The inaugural session was attended by USTM Vice-Chancellor Prof GD Sharma, who delivered the inaugural address, and Mathew Kenneth Makdoh MDC. The keynote address was delivered by USTM Department of Commerce’s Prof Sujit Sikdar.
The conclave featured technical sessions with scholars and experts from USTM, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Gauhati University, Assam University, Nagaon University, Assam Down Town University, Jaihind College (Mumbai) and other institutions. Discussions focused on agriculture, rural development, commerce, economic transformation and the growth potential of rural sectors under the GST regime.
