Shillong, Jul 18: Meghalaya saw a slight dip in NEET-UG qualifiers this year, with 1,658 candidates clearing the exam compared to 1,681 in 2025, according to NTA data.
Of 4,183 registrations from the state, 3,425 candidates appeared for the test held nationwide.
Bakhambok Anthony Thabah, an ST category candidate, emerged as the state topper with an All India Rank of 14,455 and 99.26791 percentile — the highest from Meghalaya this year.
Officials said the pass rate remained steady despite the marginal fall in qualifiers.
Nationwide, 11,21,185 students qualified out of 19,99,895 who appeared. A total of 22,79,743 candidates had registered for NEET-UG 2026, the country’s largest entrance exam for MBBS, BDS and allied health courses.
With results declared, counselling for All India Quota seats will be conducted by the MCC, while the state will hold counselling for its quota seats in the coming weeks.
