Shillong, Jul 6: Cabinet Minister and Jowail MLA Wailadmiki Shylla on Monday inaugurated a newly constructed Viewpoint at Pdein Chahtngit, Khliehtyrshi in West Jaintia Hills.
The view point constructed under the Chief Minister’s Catalytic Fund through the office of the Deputy Commissioner is located along the newly constructed Jowai Bypass connecting Jowai-Dawki Road at Treiongriang with the Jowai-Shillong Road at Khliehtyrshi, the view point offers a panoramic view of Jowai town and its surrounding hills.
The land for the project was donated by Jaijai Rymbai.
Shylla said the viewpoint aims to promote tourism and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities. He announced additional supporting infrastructure, including a community sanitary complex and stalls for local vendors to sell their products.
Shylla believes that the formal handover of the viewpoint to the Dorbar Shnong Khliehtyrshi and the land donor will ensure proper management and long-term sustainability.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Kumar Singh said that the initiative intends to contribute to sustainable development goals through improved infrastructure and community participation, turning the viewpoint into a valuable asset for the local population.
Also present were the Block Development Officer of Thadlaskein C&RD Block Dr. H Niang, Headman of Khliehtyrshi Kitbok Rymbai, government officials and members of the local community.
