Shillong, Jun 24: A 45-day skill training programme on animal feed formulation and production was inaugurated on Tuesday at St. John Hall, Nongkroh, Rambrai, West Khasi Hills, aimed at promoting self-employment in the rural sector.
Conducted by Kyrsiew Pynroi Agrofarming Development Organization (KPADO) with support from the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), the programme covers feed formulation and entrepreneurship, basic livestock farming and plantation.
Rambrai-Jyrngam MLA Remington Gabil Momin who inaugurated the training stressed the need of skill development and modern farming practices in uplifting the socio-economic conditions of rural families. He encouraged the trainees to apply the skills acquired during the training towards self-employment and income generation.
KPADO founder Bonney Kharbani, while welcoming participants, expressed that this initiative is designed to build capacity and furnish participants with practical knowledge intended for sustainable livelihoods.
MSSDS West Khasi Hills SDO Khampynjanai Kharmawlong underlined how skill development programmes like this not only empower the youth but also foster growth among farmers, leading to a more resilient rural economy.
