Shillong, Jun 23: Secretary of East Khasi Hills District Congress Committee, George Clarence Sunn has officially resigned from the primary membership of the Congress Party citing personal reasons.
Sunn, the son of former minister John Anthony Lyngdoh, also resigned as President of the Mawphlang Block Congress Committee.
He had contested the KHADC elections last year from Mawphlang-Diengiei constituency, but faced defeat.
In his resignation letter to the MPCC, Sunn expressed gratitude towards the Congress leadership for giving him the opportunity to service the party. He thanked the party for endorsing him as a candidate for the 2025 KHADC polls.
Sunn said that his decision to resign was made upon careful consideration and that he would relinquish all responsibilities entrusted to him immediately. He also acknowledged the unwavering support and cooperation he received from fellow party leaders and workers throughout his term.
