Shillong, May 26: The Office of the Superintendent of Police, Fire and Emergency Services, has informed that the telephone numbers previously listed in local newspapers under the “important phone numbers” section are no longer valid.
To streamline emergency response, the government has introduced 112 as the single emergency helpline number under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). This new system integrates all prior emergency numbers, including police (100), fire (101), and ambulance (108), into one unified contact.
This consolidation aims to facilitate quicker and more efficient responses during emergencies.
To contact the Meghalaya Fire and Emergency Services, the public is now encouraged to dial 112. The landline number 2520400 remains operational, a press release said.
