Shillong, May 19: In an effort to promote and create awareness about the single emergency number ‘112’ under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), the office of the East Khasi Hills District Magistrate has urged all Block Development Officers (BDOs) in the district to conduct awareness drives in their respective areas.
The objective of maximising outreach can be achieved through various publicity campaigns targeting local communities. By proactively informing residents about the services offered and how to access them, the administration hopes to build trust in the ‘112’ helpline.
ERSS operates under a unified framework designed to provide timely assistance to citizens launched in 2018.
The administration stated that the ultimate success of this vital service depends heavily on public awareness. To ensure that the service fulfills its intended purpose, it is imperative to maximise outreach efforts so that every citizen is aware of the assistance provided by the government through this system.
