Nongpoh, May 15: Daiakmen I Ka Talang, a young student from Umroi Umdohbyrthih village in the Ri-Bhoi district, has become a symbol of hope and resilience after securing a spot in the top-20 of the SSLC examination results recently declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE).
Her impressive accomplishment is even more remarkable given the personal hardships she has faced over the past few years.
Coming from an economically struggling background, Daiakmen’s journey has not been easy. She tragically lost her father in a road accident in 2023, followed by a devastating fire that destroyed their family home. Despite these emotional and financial challenges, Daiakmen remained resilient, dedicating herself to her studies with unwavering determination.
In recognition of her outstanding achievement, the Dorbar Shnong of Umroi Umdohbyrthih organised a felicitation program in her honour. Led by Rangbah Shnong P.B. Sylliang and Secretary T.B. Sun, the event saw local residents, parents, and educators come together to express their pride and admiration for Daiakmen.
The headmistress of Landmark Secondary School, E. Sylliang, alongside village leaders, addressed the audience, emphasising that her success serves as an inspiration to many young students within the community.
As she pursues her Class XI science studies at Kendriya Vidyalaya, NEHU Shillong, the village community expressed hope that she would continue to excel in her academic journey and achieve greater success in the future.
