Shillong, Apr 27: A private security firm, North East Security Services (NESS), is continuing to see contracts in Meghalaya even though it has been blacklisted by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
This was stated by the Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) today.
KHNAM working president Thomas Passah said that the KHADC took action against NESS after it was found to have violated the Trading by Non-Tribal Regulation 1954.
The KHADC had issued NESS with a licence to provide services to the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Laitkor. However, it later found out that the company had applied for providing security services at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Sohra using a photocopy of the KHADC certificate issued to it.
Passah said that the trading licence issued to NESS for contract work at KV Laitkor was then revoked.
“However, we have received information that this firm is still actively taking part in tenders published by various departments. Currently, this firm has participated and has also qualified in the tender published by the KV Shillong Peak,” Passah said.
“We have officially intimated this to the KHADC CEM (Chief Executive Member), hoping that immediate action is taken against this firm,” he added.
