Shillong, Apr 14: With the aim of improving overall health and eliminating intestinal worm infections among children, the office of the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) in East Jaintia Hills today launched the National Deworming Day (NDD) 2026 programme at Alpha Secondary School, Bataw.
In her speech during the programme, District Immunisation Officer (DIO) Dr NP Suchiang highlighted to the students the significance of NDD, which is observed twice a year in April and October. She stressed on the importance of consuming deworming medication, particularly for children in the age group of 1 to 19.
A mop-up round of NDD 2026 is scheduled to be held on April 21.
