Shillong, Apr 13: Sngap Syiem College celebrated its 41st Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and dignity, marking over four decades of excellence in education and institutional growth.
The celebration was attended by Vijay Kumar Mantri, Commissioner and Secretary to the Education Department, along with other distinguished dignitaries.
Mantri visited the college’s new campus at Mawten, proposed to address congestion at the existing campus. He also visited the women’s hostel before attending the main function held at the College’s Multipurpose Hall.
College Principal KK Nongsiej reflected on the institution’s achievements and reaffirmed its commitment to quality education. He also expressed gratitude to Mantri for his contributions towards improving the education system and teachers’ welfare in the state.
In his speech, Mantri inspired students to pursue excellence with determination and integrity and highlighted the evolving role of education in shaping a progressive society. He also encouraged students to prepare for competitive examinations such as CUET, UPSC and others.
Later, Mantri held an interaction with principals of all secondary and higher secondary schools under South West Khasi Hills to discuss welfare and development of schools.
He later visited Maharam Government Higher Secondary School to interact with students and staff and concluded his trip with a meeting involving district officials.
