Shillong, Mar 23: Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Urban Affairs, Sniawbhalang Dhar, today held a meeting with the members of Laitumkhrah Dorbar Shnong led by East Shillong MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh on the issue of hawkers in the locality.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Dhar said that the government, after a request from the Dorbar Shnong, will arrive at a solution to the issue of roadside hawkers within 10 days.
The Deputy CM informed that the relocation of the hawkers will be completed within two months. On the issue of roadside parking, Dhar said that the process is on and slowly things will fall in place.
Lyngdoh, meanwhile, said that suggestions made by the Dorbar Shnong have been accepted by the government.
She also said that the small roads in Laitumkhrah are facing pressure due to vehicular and public movement and there needs to be caution when the relocation of the hawkers is discussed.
