Shillong, Mar 5: The central government’s Khelo India ASMITA initiative will celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 with a special sports event in Williamnagar.
Addressing a press conference, Joint Director of My Bharat Kendra, Williamnagar, Linda BK Sangma, invited students and youth to participate in the celebration, which aims to promote the Fit India Movement and encourage women’s participation in sports and physical fitness activities.
Sangma stated that East Garo Hills has been selected to host football matches for girls in the Under 13-15 and Under 15-18 age categories as part of the national ASMITA initiative. Only 250 districts across India have been selected for this programme, making EGH one of the fortunate venues.
