Shillong, Jan 29: The Hid Foundation Shillong has issued a fervent appeal to parents, families and shopkeepers to join hands in preventing the sale of tobacco, bidis, alcohol and other harmful products to minors.
In a statement, executive coordinator Soniland Malai emphasised the importance of verifying IDs and refusing sales to underage customers.
The foundation urged shopkeepers to check IDs and inform parents or authorities if they suspect underage customers. “Protect the future, follow the law and say NO to underage tobacco sales,” the statement read.
Hid Foundation also called on district authorities to issue strict orders and publish notifications to prevent tobacco sales to minors as well as take action against violators.
