Nongpoh, Jan 27: A fatal road traffic accident took place on January 18, which resulted in the death of an unidentified man.
According to the Ri-Bhoi Superintendent of Police, the incident took place at around 5:40pm at 14th Mile along National Highway 6.
The unidentified male victim was aged between 50 and 60 years and was hit by a van (ML 10C 0735).
As a result of the impact, the victim sustained serious injuries. He was immediately rushed to Byrnihat Primary Health Centre by good Samaritans but the attending medical officer declared him dead on arrival.
Subsequently, the deceased’s body was shifted to the morgue of Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination and identification.
The victim was approximately 5 and a half feet tall, with a medium build and was wearing a black jacket, red and pink striped shirt and grey-coloured trousers at the time of the incident.
