Shillong, Jan 24: Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya Frontier Inspector General Om Prakash Upadhyay today handed over 155 appointment letters to candidates selected for various central armed forces from Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh at the Rozgar Mela held in Shillong today.
The candidates include 76 in BSF, 42 in CRPF, 20 in ITBP, 11 in Assam Rifles, among others.
Upadhyay in his address said that the programme is a powerful reflection of opportunity being created for the next generation, ensuring that deserving candidates are given a platform to contribute to national service and economic growth. Congratulating the recruits, he said that their roles in various departments carry great responsibility in safeguarding the nation and advancing its progress, and their service would inspire future generations to serve the country.
Ratan Lal Bagaria, DIG, PSO, stated that the Rozgar Mela reflects the Government of India’s sustained efforts to create meaningful employment opportunities and empower the youth. He highlighted that under the Prime Minister’s vision of Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas, employment generation has been placed at the core of national development. Since its launch in October 2022, Rozgar Mela has been organised across the country, providing thousands of young Indians with government jobs, he said.
The programme also featured a virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who interacted with newly appointed recruits across the country. He noted that many of the recruits would go on to strengthen the security of the nation, while others would contribute to nation-building through public service.
Emphasising that empowering youth with skills and creating opportunities for employment and self-employment has been a priority of the government, the Prime Minister said that government recruitment has been taken up in mission mode, leading to the launch of the Rozgar Mela.
