Shillong, Dec 22: A delegation of college principals from Meghalaya, representing the Indian College Forum, participated in the 26th National Conference held at the India International Centre, New Delhi.
The delegation comprised Dr. K. K. Nongsiej, Principal, Sngap Syiem College, Dr. C. Massar former Principal, Lady Keane College, Dr. B. Tron, Principal, PGT, Dr. A. M. Shangpliang, Principal, Lady Keane College, Dr. P. Nongtdu, Principal, Jaintia Eastern College and C. Laloo, Principal, Mawlai Presbyterian College.
The conference, which concluded yesterday, focused on the challenges of implementing NEP 2020 and the impact of artificial intelligence and climate change on higher education institutions. Eminent speakers, including Prof. Aarti Shrivastava, Dr. Malti Goel, and Prof. N. V. Varghese, addressed the conference.
Around 15 research papers were presented, highlighting issues in higher education. The conference emphasized the need for collective efforts, effective management, and government support to strengthen the sector, particularly for rural-based and private self-financing colleges.
The conference adopted a resolution to apprise the Ministry of Education of the challenges faced by HEIs and suggested setting up and strengthening research cells in institutions.
