Shillong, Dec 18: The A·chik Holistic Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has written to the Director of Accounts and Treasuries over what it says were illegal appointments to the posts of Senior System Administrator and Assistant System Administrator.
The pressure group has demanded that the job offers be rescinded and a fresh and fair hiring process initiated.
ACHIK said that there were several problems with the appointments, such as hiring seven Senior System Administrators/Administrative members and six Assistant System Administrators “outside the sanctioned and duly approved annual recruitment plan” in 2024 without foundational administrative or financial clearance. Once appointed, the individuals had their work extended by three months, “thereby compounding the initial illegality.”
The group also said that the appointment process was “executed unilaterally”, without “mandatory” prior recommendation of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) or the duly constituted screening committee, as required under the applicable recruitment rules.
The appointments, ACHIK added, also ran foul of Meghalaya’s state reservation policy, violated government circulars and flouted other government directions.
Departure from Established Recruitment Procedure: By appointing external candidates without a transparent competitive process and bypassing the MPSC, your office has acted contrary to the established norms of public employment, ACHIK told the Director.
