Nongpoh, Dec 17: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Wednesday formally confirmed Lui Star Lyngdoh as the Acting Sirdar of Elaka Nongpoh Sirdarship.
The confirmation ceremony was attended by KHADC Executive Member in charge of Elaka Denzil Raynard Chen, who administered the oath to the Acting Sirdar.
Umsning MLA Dr Celestine Lyngdoh, MDC of Umroi and Executive Member Isynei Hinge, Nongpoh MDC Rona Khymdeit, Lyngdohs from various Raids under the Elaka along with leaders of civil society organisations and members of the public attended.
The Acting Sirdar sought cooperation and collective support from the people, traditional heads and all stakeholders to ensure transparent and efficient administration.
