Shillong, Dec 8: Two residents of East Jaiñtia Hills have petitioned Chief Minister Conrad Sangma seeking his attention to a recent Deputy Commissioner’s level meeting held to address concerns related to District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment procedures.
Reachingson Siangshai and Advocate Kerlang Ksoo referred to November 27 meeting wherein a number of decisions were taken to enhance transparency and public confidence on recruitments conducted by the DSC.
Stating that the deliberations at the meeting were constructive and well-intentioned, the residents said the reforms adopted require the State government’s immediate attention and further directive.
“The absence of a clear and authoritative intervention from the State government will cause growing anxiety among the unemployed youth and the general public, who are eagerly waiting for a fair, transparent recruitment. Timely and free from all allegations of mismanagement, irregularities, nepotism and corruption in the recruitment process of the DSC,” Siangshai and Ksoo said.
The residents said the government should review the outcome of the meeting and to issue necessary directions to ensure that all district level recruitments across the state are held with transparency and fairness.
Siangshai and Ksoo also urged the Chief Minister to conduct the CM-Connect programme in East Jaintia Hills as done in other districts and blocks of the State.
They said the district continues to face a number of developmental, administrative and socio-economic challenges that require coordinated attention and direct engagement with stakeholders.
