Shillong, Nov 21: War Veterans, Veer Naris, and officials of the Sainik Welfare Board were today honoured at the Raj Bhavan to celebrate their contribution to the nation and acknowledging their sacrifice, service, and dedication.
The event brought together ex-servicemen, families of fallen heroes, and members of the defence community for a heartfelt tribute.
Governor Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar expressed deep respect and gratitude to the brave soldiers who have served the country with exemplary courage. In his remarks, he highlighted that the nation’s peace, progress, and sovereignty stand firmly on the foundation of the sacrifices made by the armed forces. He emphasised that War Veterans are living testaments of India’s military strength and patriotic spirit, whose service continues to inspire the younger generations.
Acknowledging the courage and resilience of the Veer Naris, the Governor said that their strength symbolises a silent but profound form of bravery. He also commended the officials of the Sainik Welfare Board for their tireless efforts in supporting ex-servicemen, widows, and dependents. He noted that their dedicated service ensures that the needs of the defence community are addressed with dignity and compassion, reflecting the State’s commitment to the welfare of those who served the nation.
