Shillong, Sep 23: Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister Marcuise Marak today said that his loyalty did play a role in him being retained the cabinet post.
“We have worked for the NPP from the beginning, through ups and downs, and remained together. The CM has given me this chance and responsibility, aligned with the vision he and the late P.A. Sangma had. To some extent, loyalty did play a role, but more importantly, we must work harder to achieve the vision of bringing Meghalaya at par with the top ten states in the country,” he said.
Marak was happy with his own performance and pledged to continue his efforts with greater commitment.
Marak also lauded the Chief Minister for ensuring fair representation within the cabinet. “Despite NPP having the majority, the CM has kept his word. We are happy that he has been taking care of Garo Hills as well as the entire state,” he added.
Reacting to reports that some sitting legislators were unhappy over the reshuffle, Marak dismissed the concerns. “In a coalition government, balance is required. There were some differences earlier, but now everyone is settled. All are happy and working as a team. Every MLA of the ruling party is like the chief minister of his constituency, so there is no question of unhappiness,” he stated.
