Shillong, Sep 12: Three districts in Meghalaya will be under an orange weather alert on Saturday as heavy rain is expected over much of the state.
East Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills and South West Khasi Hills are the districts that will be under an orange alert. All nine other districts will be under a lower yellow alert, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
EKH, WJH and SWKH will continue to remain under an orange alert on Sunday and will be joined by East Jaintia Hills. Weather forecasts are fluid, however, and the IMD may change its advice when it issues a new update tomorrow.
