Shillong, Aug 30: Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh has asserted that the government will not tolerate discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS and assured to create a positive environment for such patients.
Speaking at an event, “Youth Uncut: Real Talk on HIV” here today, the Minister, who led the conversation on awareness, stigma, and access to care, emphasised the importance of breaking the silence around the disease and stressed the need for empathy towards people living with HIV/AIDS.
Lyngdoh assured that help is available through the national helpline 1097 and urged responsible choices and honest conversations around sexual health. She encouraged young people to ask bold questions and seek help without hesitation.
She also addressed issues such as dating apps, hookup culture, and awareness on sexually transmitted infections.
The event brought together young people, policymakers, and experts to discuss HIV/AIDS and promote inclusivity.
