Shillong, Aug 20: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the newly established Computer Lab at Mawlai Presbyterian College, funded through the Chief Minister’s Development Fund (CMDF).
The facility, set up with an allocation of Rs 10 lakh, is expected to enhance digital learning and provide students with access to modern technological resources.
In his address the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of education as a priority sector for the government while also acknowledging the many challenges that continue to exist within the state’s education system. Despite the complexities, he reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening institutions and improving access to quality education for all students.
The Chief Minister further assured continued support for Mawlai Presbyterian College by announcing assistance of Rs 10 lakh for the ongoing construction of the college building. He also extended a grant of Rs 3 lakh to support the purchase of musical instruments, encouraging students to pursue extracurricular activities alongside their academic development.
Later, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed community hall of Mawkynroh-Umshing
There, he highlighted the role of the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) in supporting institutions and villages across the state. He encouraged the community to continue developing the hall as a hub for productive and positive activities, ensuring that young people have opportunities for growth, recreation, and skill-building.
