The Dorbar Shnong Nongrim Hills today declared that 80 per cent of its residents are vaccinated against Covid-19.
The Dorbar submitted its report to East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo today and said that 14.73 per cent of the residents refused the jab while 6.51 per cent are those with health issues and those who recovered from the disease.
In Upper Nongrim Hills out of 1065 residents, 812 were vaccinated. In Centre Nongrim Hills 1047 were vaccinated out of 1247 and in Lower Nongrim Hills, 1156 got the jab out of 1453 residents.
Rangbah Shnong, Bantyllilang Narry said efforts are being made to cover all the adult population to achieve a hundred percent.
“The Dorbar has not left any stone unturned in publicising, encouraging, persuading with constant awareness programme to the residents. The CCMT provided assistance to health workers during vaccination in as many as 16 vaccination programmes held in the dorbar hall,” Narry said.
Informing that the vaccination drive was flagged off in the locality on April 21, Narry said the dorbar was able to provide proper date and survey and the figures were not based on assumptions.
The Dorbar Shnong further thanked residents for their cooperation in providing the basic data and information and lauded the efforts put in by the CCMT that comprises of six ASHAs, Aganwadi workers, Ethan Lyngwa, Banrilang Dohling, Pradeep Swer, Gregory Hynniewta, Rishanlang Diengdoh and all members in bringing the documentation.
