Editor,
Numerous discussions have been put up forth on the roster system vis a vis the reservation policy. These are two different terminologies and have a wide connotation on the future prospect of many job seekers. There are proponents of having a proper “demarcated” job reservation policy and those who look at the use of a ‘prospective’ roster system. Actually these are so complex for even a rural folk to understand.
So make things much easier and competitive, a holistic approach of adopting a uniform reservation mechanism where all the three major tribes – Khasi, Jaintia and Garo compete for the 80 per cent irrespective of the demographic or population status purely based on merit points minus the personal interview which is bound to create animosity and doubts.
The merit-based uniform reservation mechanism will help build a sense of oneness and competition without any doubt or distraction. This will go a long way in accommodating people based on educational qualifications, skill sets, personality traits, co curricular skills and merit scored in the desired parameters.
