At least eight fake twitter accounts impersonating Meghalaya Governor, Satya Pal Malik were detected prompting the Raj Bhavan to file an official FIR with the Director General of Police.
A statement from the Raj Bhavan today said that all the fake accounts listed were posting derogatory and offensive materials which are prejudicial to the high office of the Governor which does not reflect his views.
“These fake accounts with intention of cheating, fraud, harming and maligning the reputation of Hon’ble Governor are violative of Information Technology Act, 2000 apart from being a case of impersonation, forgery and cheating,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Governor has created a new official account on Twitter with ID @SatyapalMalik6 on March 24, 2021.
