The Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) today celebrated the 75th year of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on International Human Rights Day 2023.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma was the chief guest and Law Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh the guest of honour.
Sangma called on lawmakers and protectors of justice to work with duty and passion to ensure that everyone lives with dignity and respect.
The second session started with opening remarks by the Chairperson of the
MHRC, Justice T Vaiphei, in which he stressed on the importance of upholding and protecting human rights values in all corners of society and stressed on the role of public servants to protect human rights of the citizens and people at large.
The session was also addressed by prominent speakers from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Associate Professor in the Law Department Arun Kumar Singh, and Advocate General of the Meghalaya High Court Amit Kumar.
