Seventy prisoners at the Nongpoh district jail have tested positive for Covid-19.
Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, RM Kurbah informed that out of those tested positive, 37 are still in ward within the jail premises, 23 were sent to the Corona Care Centre at SIRD Umiam and 10 are undergoing treatment at Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
Kurbah said preventive measures have been taken and strict protocols observed to contain the spread of the disease.
