Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Bharati Pravin Pawar today informed that from next year, 50 MBBS seats will be increased in NEIGRIHMS and as such the annual intake will be 100 seats.
Speaking to media persons here, Pawar said that since 2015, an additional budget has been provided to NEIGRIHMS to develop the medical college, increase MBBS seats and strengthen the nursing college.
“Every year we are providing funds under different heads to strengthen the NEIGRIHMS. Last year the budget was Rs 480 crore and this year the budget is Rs 528 crore,” Pawar said.
She appreciated the efforts of NEIGRIHMS to strengthen the radio therapy treatment unit among other facilities. She further informed that the efforts of the central government have always been to strengthen the institute.
Pawar also informed that the Regional Cancer Centre has been developed in NEIGRIHMS and the focus is to serve the patients suffering from cancer.
As part of her visit, Pawar visited and inspected NEIGRIHMS. She also held a review meeting with the officials and staff of the institute.
