A fire broke out in Siejlieh village under West Khasi Hills district early Tuesday morning, gutting five shops and an auto workshop in the area.
According to secretary of the village, ND Kharsyntiew the cause of the fire is not known but he said the fire engulfed five shops that belonged to Etilda Nongkhar, Youwansi Nongsiej, Beautiful Thongni, Biolin Nongkhar, Laiahunlang Nongkhar and the auto workshop that belongs to one Promise Tympuin.
Kharsyntiew said that the incident occurred at around 2:30 am. Fortunately, no one was injured and the fire and emergency services were able to douse the fire before it could engulf other shops located in the area.
