Three roads, a footbridge and a school building constructed under the Special Central Assistance (SCA) under Border Areas Development Programme (BADP) were inaugurated in the Ranikor C&RD Block by local MLA and MDC, Pius Marwein yesterday.
The projects included the 800 meter Kewri-Largao road (Rs 41 lakh), Koraigora road constructed at Rs 12 lakh as well as the Koraigora-Bolabeta road at Rs 10 lakh. The footbridge connects Mawhati and Phtokroh villages constructed at about Rs 5 lakh and a new school building of the Panchiring-B upper primary school at Rs 10 lakh.
Border Area Development Officer (BADO), A. Lyngdoh informed that the overall expenditure for the projects was at Rs 80 lakh.
Marwein told reporters that the Kewri-Largao road will now ease the public in travelling as in the past they had to pass through the BSF check gate which was not easy for the residents since it closes at 8 pm.
The MLA expressed satisfaction on the completion of the other projects and appreciated the efforts put in by officers of the department. He said other development projects would also be taken up for the benefit of the border residents.
Others present during the inauguration of the projects included Ranikor Civil Sub Divisional Officer, HS Diengdoh, Officer In-charge of Ranikor Police Station, R.H. Koch and others.
