Five vegetable vendors were killed when a speeding truck ( UP51.AT. 2949) hit them at Umkhen bridge along the Shillong Bypass at around 8 this morning.
Police said, four of these were women vendors Balarihun Kharkongor (27), Gracefully Nongbri (23), Banteibha Bina (20) and Shantilang Nongbri (28) died on spot while another vendor, Korbarsing Kharduid (52) succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.
