The Garo Hills’ unit of the All Meghalaya Fourth Teachers Association (AMFTA) today expressed its unhappiness after its members were not paid their December salary in advance.
December is a month where salaries are released early by the state government so as to enable employees to be able to celebrate the Christmas holidays.
AMFTA said that other teachers, however, such as SSA assistants, ad hoc, government and non-government, received their December wages.
The association had been in touch with officials but were told that a fund shortage had prevented the government from releasing the salaries. The teachers were promised that additional funds were sought from the Finance Department but, to date, they have yet to be paid.
