Vijay Diwas is celebrated on December 16 every year all across the Nation to commemorate the glorious victory of Indian Armed Forces over the Pakistan Armed Forces in the Indo-Pak War 1971.
The successful culmination of the operations resulted in birth of a new Nation-Bangladesh, out of East Pakistan. Though the event is important for the whole Nation, however it holds a special significance for 101 Area because 101 Area took part in the conduct of operations in East Pakistan and has the unique distinction of being the first Indian Formation to enter Dacca on December 16, 1971.
