Shillong, Jul 3: Four new positive cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Meghalaya today.
They include two BSF personnel in East Khasi Hills, one returnee from Delhi who tested positive in Tura, and another person from Khanapara-B in Ri-Bhoi district who is one of the high risk contacts of the positive patient.
This was informed by Director Health Services (MI) Dr. Aman War today.
With today’s addition, there are now seven BSF personnel who have tested positive for Covid-19 in Meghalaya even as another 150 BSF personnel are scheduled to arrive in the State with the expiry of their leave period.
As of now, Meghalaya has 18 active Covid-19 cases. Out of the 62 total positive cases, 43 persons have recovered while one succumbed to the virus.
Dr. War also informed that 20,182 samples have been sent for testing out of which 19,920 samples were tested negative.
While 19,636 residents of the State who were earlier stranded in other parts of the country have returned home so far, 517 are still under institutional quarantine centres.
Meanwhile, Ri-Bhoi police today nabbed a person identified as Champion Rai who fled away from one of the corona care centres in Assam.
Following a request by Assam police, a team of Ri-Bhoi police led by DSP (Traffic) Orville Massar along with in-charge of Byrnihat police outpost A Sangma together with a team of Assam police traced the person at a place near the cement plant in Jorabat.
