Four bodies have lain unclaimed in the morgue of Shillong Civil Hospital since last year and the authorities have issued a plea for families to claim them immediately.
As the bodies are in a decomposed state, the hospital will wait three days for relatives to claim them, following which they will be disposed of by the Shillong Municipal Board.
One of the four is an unidentified male aged around 70 years. He was admitted on May 27, 2021 and died four days later.
Another male patient named Rishan Kharbuki (35) of Upper Shillong was admitted on December 3, 2021 and expired later the same day.
Another male, Ajay Narayan (32) a patient of MIMHANS, was admitted on December 5 and died the same day.
The last body belongs to Bishnu Bengali (67), who was admitted on December 18, 2021 and died the following day.
