Shillong, Sep 24: Some 3,500 saplings of different species were planted on Lum Sohpetbneng, a hill with religious significance to the Khasi people, as part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability.
The plantation drive was carried out today, organised by the State Bank of India’s Regional Business Office, Region 1, Dhankheti. The saplings included teak, puma wood, orange, mulberry, litchi and plum. The plantation activity was executed by SUK Nursery of Nongmensong.
The Chief Manager and Deputy Manager of SBI’s Regional Business Office, Region 1, and members of the Seng Khasi Kmie office, such as O Pyngrope, Hainess Marbaniang and I Sun, were present.
