Nine percent of a small number of shopkeepers in Tura Bazaar who were tested for Covid-19 returned a positive test, it was informed today.
Further random tests will take place in the days ahead.
“More sampling in various markets and crowded clusters in Tura town will be carried out in coordination with localities,” the West Garo Hills district administration said.
Sampling will take place in Tura Bazaar and Chandmary tomorrow, Beldarpara and Chitoktak on Wednesday, Lower Wadanang and Darenbibra, Jail Road, Tura on Thursday and Araimile and Proper Hawakhana on Friday.
District authorities have also requested the public to take extreme precautions when visiting markets and bazaars.
“Double mask yourself and maintain hand hygiene. Don’t make shops crowdedyou’re your shopping in your own localities,” district authorities stated.
