East Khasi Hills police has arrested three youth and seized their white maruti car after a video of them performing stunts went viral.
A suo moto case was registered by Laitumkhrah police under Section 279 of IPC and various sections of the Motor Vehicle Act and a supplementary FIR was also lodged by the Laitumkhrah Dorbar Shnong Pyllun.
Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem said that the viral video was captured on December 1, wherein a white Maruti 800 without any registration plate was seen driving recklessly and dangerously with loud noise at Laitumkhrah police point. The vehicle was also seen to have dashed the wall of the round-about in the area.
He said during the course of investigation the vehicle involved in the dangerous stunts was traced by police from a garage at Laitkor Kyntonmon.
“Three persons were apprehended who admitted to have been involved in the dangerous driving after consuming alcohol,” Syiem said.
Police also identified the car that bear the registration No. ML 05 U 4845.
Syiem said all the three accused along with the vehicle have been brought to the Laitumkhrah Police Station for further questioning and legal action.
Police has also urged youth to refrain from stunt driving which will put not only themselves, but others on the road at risk. The public has also been requested to provide information on such activities by dialing 112 .
