Shillong, Feb 13: Three men were apprehended on Friday on suspicion of being car thieves, police said.
According to East Khasi Hills police, villagers of Umthli, under Pynursla Police Station, apprehended three persons on suspicion of being thieves at around 9:30am. A team from Pynursla Police Station immediately rushed there and arrested the three.
The trio has been identified as Pyndapborlang Khonglah (26) of Wah Pathaw, Pynursla; Bamkerlang Surong (22) of Sohlong, Wahkdait; and Iohborlang Mylliem Umlong (36) of Lawmei, Khliehshnong.
Two cars were recovered from their possession – a Hyundai Nios i10 (ML 05Z 5650) and an Alto 800 tourist taxi (ML 05N 4146) – as well as three mobile phones.
Police said they are investigating further to ascertain the trio’s involvement in other thefts.
