Three sex workers and three customers were arrested during a raid conducted by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), East Khasi Hills SP said today.
The raid was conducted on July 2 at around 11 pm after complaints were received by the police that sex workers have been operating in the Barik-Dhankheti road as clients were also seen coming in vehicles there, the SP said.
A case has been registered in Laitumkhrah police station under the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act.
“Henceforth, to prevent this sort of activity in the area apart from booking sex workers, clients also apprehended in the area will face legal action under the Act and the Meghalaya Police Act,” the SP warned.
