Mawkyrwat, Mar 28: Three persons were injured when a bus rolled and collided with a hillside at Mawranglang in South West Khasi Hills district, police said today.
The incident happened yesterday at around 10 pm.
The bus bearing registration number AS 18 AC 0155 was travelling from Mawsynram to Medi Rong Rong, Resubelpara, carrying a total of 48 passengers.
Police said when the bus reached Mawranglang near the Rilang Bridge, it began experiencing serious mechanical problems, prompting the driver to stop the vehicle.
After the passengers exited, the bus rolled and collided with a hillside, resulting in injuries to the driver identified as Akon Nath (39) and two passengers—Neru Marak (65) and Sailendro B. Sangma (70), both from Resubelpara.
Nath of Goalpara, Assam was admitted to Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital and was discharged today while Marak and Sangma were referred to NEIGRIHMS for further medical treatment but were subsequently discharged the same day.
Police said formalities as per the Motor Vehicle Act has been observed and the bus was towed and taken to Mawkyrwat Police Station for further necessary formalities.
