Three men from Assam were arrested while in the possession of 11,000 yaba tablets (which contain methamphetamine), weighing in at over 1 kilogramme.
Based on credible source information, a special operation was conducted yesterday led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police of South West Garo Hills, Anti-Narcotics Task Force.
The three who were arrested were identified by police as Mostafa Sheikh (24), Meter Ali (32) and Nur Abdin (24), all of whom are residents of Assam.
Besides the large haul of methamphetamine, police also seized three mobile phones, two motorcycles and a knife from the trio.
A case has been registered against them at Ampati police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The South West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Vikash Kumar also requested anyone with information about other miscreants involved in drug smuggling to inform their local police station. Their identity will be kept secret and a reward will be given to them.
