Shillong, Feb 18: Three suspected drug traffickers were arrested along with 9.84 grams of heroin during an early morning raid at Lum Survey in the city today.
The accused are Ashad All (39), Jaharuddin (28) and Bishu Barman (24).
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said besides the narcotic drugs 83 vials were also seized from their possession.
Additionally, six other individuals from the area were detained during a joint raid conducted by the Anti Narcotic Task Force, Special Squad (Anti- Infiltration Directorate) and officers from Cantonment Beat House and Sadar Police Station.
Syiem said the persons were detained for lacking proper documentation to prove their citizenship. These persons are being questioned, he added.
Two cases have been registered under Section 21(b)/27/29 and section 21(a)/27/29 of the NDPS Act.
Syiem said the police endeavours to continue raiding such places, which have become dens for drug peddling.
