The Public Health Engineering (PHE) department today declared a three-day water cut in the state capital from March 29.
“On account of stringing of 220 Kv DC Killing-Mawngap-New Shillong transmission line between tower no-AP-4/0 5/0 at Mawphlang by the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), the dedicated 33 Kv sub-station for Greater Shillong Water Supply (GSWS) water works at Mawphlang will be affected and the pumping operation from the GSWS shall be placed under suspension on March 29, 30, 31 and there will be no water supply in the state capital and its adjoining areas,” PHE Chief Engineer BM Lyndem in the shutdown notice said.
Efforts will be made to resume the supply by April 1 and reduce shutdown time to the extent possible, the notice added.
