Three persons were arrested by police in separate drug busts conducted in East Jaiñtia Hills and East Garo Hills districts of the State.
Two persons who hail from West Tripura were arrested at Umtyra in East Jaiñtia Hills while transporting 37 brown packets containing 47.157 kg of marijuana worth Rs 16 lakh in an Alto bearing registration number No AS23 J 0171.
Police said the two accused Shir Debbarma and Pradip Debbarma were arrested last night. Two mobile phones and cash Rs 10, 530 were also seized from their possession.
In East Garo Hills, police arrested one Macayver R Marak with 514.2 gm of marijuana during a raid conducted at Williamnagar market.
Police also seized a leather purse containing Rs. 100, SBI ATM card in his name, RC of Pulsar bike bearing registration number AS 01 BR 5591, Pulsar bike bearing registration AS-01-BR-5591 and a mobile phone along with Jio SIM card from the accused.
Cases under the NDPS were registered against the accused in respective police stations.
Meanwhile, East Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kumar Ambedkar has appealed people to share information on any similar illegal activities. Identity of the informer will be kept secret and rewarded, he added.
