Twenty seven villages and localities in the State have achieved 100 percent vaccination against COVID-19, out of which 23 are in South West Garo Hills, three in East Garo Hills districts and RR Colony, Rynjah in East Khasi Hills district.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr informed that Kemrang village under Mawkliaw PHC of East Khasi Hills district achieved 100 percent vaccination in the 45+ age group, five villages under West Garo Hills district and three villages in South Garo Hills district.
He also informed that the State government has started aggressive awareness campaigns to tackle the spread of the Coronavirus in rural areas.
“We have already alerted the CCMT whereby Village Health and Sanitation Committees have been activated,” the Director of Health Services said.
Meanwhile, the State government has decided to allow 15 per cent of public transport (local taxis and auto rickshaws) to ply in Shillong city starting from June 28. However plying of buses is still not allowed.
“In rural areas, the government has allowed 30 per cent of commercial transport to function in East Khasi Hills as well as other district. But they should display their vaccination status,” Health and Family Welfare Minister, A. L. Hek said.
